• Diagnostic.
  Refers to the ability to perform reliable self-monitoring with easy-to-understand diagnostic messages that the plant operator can easily identify once errors arise.

  This function can prevent unnecessary downtime or decreased production due to undetected issues. 
  

  Diagnostic messages may appear in five status signals: diagnostic active, failure, function check, out of specification and maintenance required. Each status signal indicates a specific condition needing a particular action to resolve. 

• Verification.
  The verification function not only checks that the device components are still within predefined limits, but also indicates any errors that may cause a problem with the device's performance.

  As Heartbeat verification is a traceable verification method according to ISO 9001, it can be used to extend calibration intervals.

  The plant operator may print the documented proof of a performed verification. The corresponding Heartbeat Technology verification report can be used as a quality document documenting the current device state.

• Monitoring.
  This function enables predictive maintenance by identifying process conditions that may affect device or asset integrity or process performance, e.g.,  the occurrence of foam in a tank, corrosion, or build-up on the sensor surface.

  The response from the sensor is converted to easy-to-understand information, assisting the plant operator to foresee and plan any maintenance activities accordingly.
